Ahrism1 has finally succeeded in removing its most troublesome member after a two-year-long struggle.
The journey to rid the community of the disruptive presence began earlier in 2023, when the community’s main subreddit was destroyed by a former moderator working for r/AhriMains. A year before that, Ahrism1 transitioned to new Discord servers for its fan clubs, leaving behind the old ones due to unforeseen and unfixable circumstances. Unfortunately, the same volunteer administrator, who had since been removed from the staff, remained in the old server and took control, leading to vandalism and locking out the rightful owner. This action by Ryan- vandalizing the name, deleting all the invites, and kicking out the rightful owner- is what prompted management to search out every possible avenue to remove his permissions.
The situation reached a boiling point when the former admin challenged staff by suggesting, to “maybe just remove my staff role” sent with a mocking emote. Johnny, the director of Ahrism1, responded with determination, stating, "Don’t underestimate the extent to which I’ll go to do just that."
For two long years, Johnny and the Ahrism community battled to regain control of their server. The struggle involved countless hours of communication, reaching out to Discord support, documenting evidence, and, ultimately, seeking legal advice.
Despite numerous setbacks and obstacles, the perseverance paid off. In a final act of triumph, the rightful administration managed to restore just enough power to cut out the tumor, and Ryan was removed from the server.
Reflecting on this journey, Johnny remarked, "I guess he should’ve been careful what he wished for." in reference to the taunt Ryan had expressed.
“A significant security risk”
An Ahrism1 spokesperson emphasized that the issue went beyond the removal of an inactive user. They explained, "While it might seem like a simple case of wanting to remove someone AFKing in an old unused server, there are very real security implications at play here. One day, this former moderator could claim to be the real owner, pointing to their lingering staff roles as dishonest proof."
They continued, "Such a scenario could lead to disastrous consequences. The individual might try to take over the server, change its name, or even repurpose it for other, potentially harmful purposes. This not only amounts to stealing Ahrism1's property but also poses a significant security risk to remaining and new members, as there would be no official owner."
In fact, the spokesperson revealed that during the very outburst that prompted this renewed effort, the former moderator, Ryan, permanently deleted the server's invite link usage statistics.
Ahrism1 is excited to report that any remaining traces of unauthorized access Ryan had to it’s properties have been fully severed, and their communities are safe from any leverage he might have held against them.
