The recent actions of some players to ban Ahri in games, grief, throw matches, and harass others who enjoy the new skin are reprehensible. These behaviours do nothing to harm Riot Games but significantly impact regular players who simply wish to enjoy their favourite champion. This toxic behaviour creates a hostile environment that detracts from the enjoyment and camaraderie of the game.

In light of these events, the director of the renowned Ahri fan club, Ahrism, has said in an announcement:

"These False Ahri Mains, these traitors, now spread vile propaganda with one aim: to ban Ahri. They gather like a plague, spreading their hateful ideology, planning to sabotage others' games, and fraudulently report any of our people who play Ahri. They seek to poison not only themselves but also the broader champion communities, pitting them all against us. This hateful attack cannot and will not be tolerated."

A popular Ahri streamer, who wishes to remain anonymous, has also commented on the situation:

"I was like- I feel it's stupid- Not gonna lie, it's really really dumb, what they're doing... Like people online and stuff. And I'm sure it's gonna end in like ... a month or so, people are definitely gonna forget about it. But people always talk ... and when it actually happens they don't care."

Disgusting Actions from r/AhriMains

It is disheartening to see the community's anger over Riot Games' pricing being misdirected towards regular players. This behaviour only serves to divide the community and detract from the overall gaming experience

The situation is exacerbated by the toxic environment in r/AhriMains. Even their leader, Canti, has openly encouraged bullying and harassment of members who purchase the new skin, blatantly violating his own rules. This hypocrisy and toxic behavior from a community leader are particularly troubling, as it sets a harmful precedent and further alienates regular players who just want to enjoy the game.

Adding to this, there are dozens of rule-breaking posts on r/AhriMains that are not being removed out of spite. This inaction from the moderators shows a clear bias and fosters an environment where toxicity is not only tolerated but encouraged.

It's crucial for the community to channel their frustrations in a way that promotes positive change rather than fostering hostility. By uniting in constructive dialogue and providing feedback to Riot Games, players can effectively communicate their concerns without harming fellow gamers.

Discord users should exercise caution because a third-party company is currently engaged in scraping their messages and monitoring numerous individual profiles on the platform.

According to a report from The Register1, the internet-scraping entity Spy.pet has been actively gathering data from Discord since November of the previous year. Over this period, Spy.pet has amassed more than four billion messages and is currently monitoring 14,000 Discord servers, along with tracking over 620 million users.

While data scraping is not an uncommon practice and occurs on various social media platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn, Spy.pet's approach stands out for its transparency. For example, their website's Transparency section only displays the word "transparency," and the previously available "Request Removal" link redirected users to a video clip from the movie Spider-Man 2 without providing removal options.

Apart from monitoring Discord users, Spy.pet offers an "enterprise" option that requires direct contact with the site's owner for access. The site's creator promotes it with offering, for example, the ability to train AI models.

Enter Ahrimains, a popular Discord server that claims to be dedicated to Ahri enthusiasts. Despite its sizable community, it fell victim to Spy.pet’s data scraping2. The site now displays a comprehensive page on Ahrimains, complete with even including their emotes and stickers, available for anyone to download. The failure of the server’s mandatory captcha “Security” bot to keep Spy.pet’s bots out highlights the critical importance of robust security measures.

This fan club, comprising servers like Ahrism, K/DA • The Blades, and others, has successfully thwarted Spy.pet’s intrusion attempts.
